Under PIPEDA, we are required to identify the purposes for which we collect personal information before or at the time of collection. We collect and use your personal information for the following purposes.

Platform operations. To operate, maintain, and improve the Services, including search functionality, pricing tools, and listing aggregation. To diagnose technical issues, monitor platform performance, and ensure the security of our systems.

Personalization. To personalize your experience on the platform, including tailoring search results, recommendations, and content based on your browsing behavior, stated preferences, and interactions with the Services.

Pricing intelligence. To develop, refine, and deliver our pricing tools, including price analysis, market trend reporting, and related data products. Behavioral data such as search patterns, filter usage, and listing engagement may be used in aggregate to improve the accuracy and relevance of our pricing intelligence.

Communications. To send you transactional communications such as price alerts, saved search notifications, and account-related messages. To send you marketing communications, including newsletters, market updates, and promotional content, where you have provided your consent or where permitted by applicable law. You may withdraw your consent and opt out of marketing communications at any time.

Audience development and analytics. To analyze usage patterns, understand our user base in aggregate, develop audience segments, and produce insights that inform our business operations, advertising products, and data services. To conduct research and analysis that improves our Services and supports our commercial offerings.

Data products and services. To develop and deliver commercial data products, including pricing intelligence subscriptions and market analytics offered to business customers. When data is used for these purposes, it is aggregated, anonymized, or pseudonymized. We do not sell your raw personal information to third parties.

Legal and compliance. To comply with applicable laws and regulations, respond to legal process, enforce our terms of use, protect our rights and property, and ensure the safety of our users and the public.

If we wish to use your personal information for a new purpose not identified in this Privacy Policy, we will seek your consent before doing so, unless the new purpose is required or permitted by law.

We collect, use, and disclose your personal information only with your knowledge and consent, except where permitted or required by law. Depending on the sensitivity of the information and the reasonable expectations of the individual, we obtain consent in the following ways.

Affiliate and marketplace partners. When you click through from our platform to a third-party marketplace or retailer, we share click-level data with that partner for the purposes of affiliate tracking and commission attribution. This may include a unique click identifier, the listing you viewed, and a timestamp. We do not share your name, email address, or account information with affiliate partners.

Marketing partners. We may use advertising platforms such as Google and Meta to promote Watch Pursuit and measure the effectiveness of our own marketing campaigns. For these purposes we may share pseudonymized identifiers, such as hashed email addresses, with those platforms. We do not share raw personal information for these purposes, and we do not sell advertising on our platform.

Analytics and service providers. We share information with third-party service providers who assist us with website hosting, analytics, email delivery, advertising operations, data processing, and other operational functions. These providers are contractually required to use your information only for the purposes of providing services to us and are subject to confidentiality obligations.

Data partnerships. We may share aggregated or anonymized data with business partners for the purposes of market research and analytics consistent with our pricing-intelligence products. Such data does not identify any individual.

Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Legal requirements. We may disclose your information where required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, to investigate fraud, or to respond to a government request.

Canadian residents

Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

The right to know whether we hold personal information about you. The right to access your personal information and to receive an account of how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed. The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information. The right to withdraw your consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. The right to challenge our compliance with PIPEDA and this Privacy Policy through our Privacy Officer.

We will respond to access requests within 30 days of receipt, at minimal or no cost to you.

If you reside in Quebec, you may have additional rights under Law 25, including the right to data portability and the right to be informed of automated decision-making processes that use your personal information.

United States residents

If you are a resident of California or another US state with applicable privacy legislation, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, request access to your information, request deletion of your information, request correction of inaccurate information, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell your raw personal information. To the extent that our sharing of pseudonymized identifiers with advertising partners constitutes a "sale" or "sharing" under applicable state law, you may opt out through our privacy settings or by contacting us.

Exercising your rights

To submit a privacy rights request, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@watchpursuitinc.com. We will verify your identity before processing your request and will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (within 30 days for Canadian residents, as required by PIPEDA).

Communication preferences

You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in any marketing email, by adjusting your communication preferences on our website, or by contacting us. Even if you opt out of marketing communications, we will continue to send you transactional messages related to your account and use of the Services.

Do Not Sell or Share

You may opt out of the sharing of personal information for targeted advertising purposes through our privacy settings. We recognize the Global Privacy Control.

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes identified in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In accordance with PIPEDA's limiting retention principle, we apply the following criteria to determine retention periods:

The length of time we have an ongoing relationship with you and provide the Services to you. Whether there is a legal obligation to which we are subject. Whether retention is advisable in light of our legal position.

When personal information is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, we will securely destroy, erase, or anonymize it. Aggregated and anonymized data that does not identify any individual may be retained indefinitely for analytics, research, pricing intelligence, and commercial data product purposes.

In the event of a breach of security safeguards involving your personal information that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and affected individuals as required under PIPEDA. We will also notify any other regulatory authorities as required by applicable provincial or US state law. Notification to affected individuals will include a description of the breach, the personal information involved, the steps we have taken to reduce the risk of harm, and the steps you can take to protect yourself. We maintain records of all breaches of security safeguards as required by law.

The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. Our platform contains links to third-party websites, marketplaces, and services. When you click through to a third-party site from our platform, you leave our Services and the third party's privacy policy governs from that point. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of any third-party website or service.

We are also not responsible for the data collection, use, or disclosure practices of third-party platform providers such as Google, Apple, Meta, or any social login provider, app developer, operating system provider, or advertising network.

Watch Pursuit operates from Canada and the United States. Your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in either country. Under PIPEDA, we remain accountable for your personal information regardless of where it is stored or processed. We use contractual and other measures to ensure that your personal information receives a comparable level of protection when transferred to service providers or partners in other jurisdictions.

We apply the privacy protections described in this Privacy Policy regardless of where your information is stored. If you access the Services from outside Canada and the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in these countries.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised. Changes become effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy on our website. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. If we make material changes to how we collect, use, or disclose your personal information, we will provide notice through the Services or by other means as required by applicable law, and will obtain your consent where required.
