Blancpain is the oldest luxury watchmaker in the world, founded in 1735, and holds a credible claim as the creator of the modern dive watch. The Fifty Fathoms, introduced in 1953 for the French Navy’s combat swimmers, established many of the features that later became industry standards for dive watches, including the unidirectional rotating bezel.
